A Book of Poems by Marty Silverthorne
Marty Silverthorne holds a Bachelor's Degree from St. Andrews Presbyterian College and a Master's Degree from East Carolina University. He studied with Ron Bayes and is greatly influenced by Shelby Stephenson and other North Carolina writers. Marty's first book of poems Dry Skin Messiah (St. Andrews Press) won the Bun McClelland award. Pot Liquor Promises, his second chapook, was selected by Maxine Kumin for the Sixth Persephone Press Book Award. He co-poeted a chapbook entitled no good will with his friend Morrison Myers. His poems appeared in Pembroke Magazine, Tar River Poetry, St. Andrews Press, Cold Mountain Review, Cairn, Words and Witness, 100 Years of North Carolina Poetry, and others.
Marty resides in Greenville, North Carolina and works as a Certified Clinical Addiction Specialist. Marty worked with Jim Moloney for a number of years and was a close friend of Angus Moloney's. Marty's work with substance and alcohol therapy is connected to the Stardust-Startup Factory focus area of mental health.
